According to recovery.gov, $18 million in stimulus money went to AARP to train 500 people. That's $36,000 per person trained - hardly shovel ready jobs. Have you wondered why AARP has been so coy in their support of the health care reform legislation? It would seem if the legislation plans on taking away $560 billion in Medicare benefits the AARP would be up in arms, but the are not. They actually came out in favor of the proposed legislation. I guess the reason is they will profit from selling Medigap insurance once seniors lose a good portion of their Medicare benefits.
