Who is the Velvet Revolution? The Investor’s Business Daily describes them as a nontransparent group of unknown funding. Their founders are reported to be Brad Friedman and Kevin Zeese, two activist long associated with Democratic causes. Who they represent is not known. I suspect George Soros may fund some of their activities.
They have bought a full page ad in the Washington DC City Paper featuring a wanted poster with the face of Tom Donohue and offering a $200,000 reward for information leading to wrongdoing on his part. This is not an official investigation nor do they have any preliminary evidence of official misconduct. It is a political hit, straight out of Saul Alinsky’s book - “Rules for Radicals.”
Who is Ton Donohue? He is the CEO of the US Chamber of Commerce and a true friend of small business. Velvet Revolution says its campaign against him is based on the Chamber's opposition to the Obama administration's health care overhaul and cap-and-trade legislation. The group’s web site reads - "The Chamber of Commerce, under Tom Donohue, has gone from a well-respected trade organization to an extremist political organization dedicated to corrupting American democracy by elevating the profits of big corporations over the well-being of the citizens they serve .”
Fox news reports Velvet Revolution is a coalition of 120 left-wing groups. Whoever they are, they are a shadowy cabal willing to viciously attack a well respected business leader who has been vocal in his dissent over legislation he feels will hurt small businesses.
This attack is not the way of democracy, unless you believe in mob rule. The Obama administration failed to invite Donohue to a recent White House meeting to discuss the unemployment problem. Who would have been more qualified to attend? Considering the Obama White House has not condemned this recent attack on Donohue, he may have made their enemies list. And you thought democracy was about discussion and open debate. I hope my friends on the left will consider how their powerbrokers are advancing their agenda.
